Coming events:
Celebrating Early Lesbian Theatre
New Heritage Exhibition on Early Lesbian Theatre will open on Saturday 18 October, 2pm
At the Charlotte Museum, 6/58 Surrey Cres. Grey Lynn
Guest Speaker: Hilary King speaking about her days on the Broadsheet Road Show
This is an opportunity to learn of theatre courageously presented to New Zealand in the seventies
and eighties such as Back Street Theatre and the Broadsheet Road shows.
We can learn what NZ lesbians watched, wrote and took part in he 1970s, and 1980s.
A koha to support the work of the Museum and to help with the costs would be appreciated.
Lezzie Tunes
Listen to lesbian music on vinyl, Friday 31 October,
Gather at the Charlotte Museum, 5.30 - 7.30pm
6/58 Surrey Crescent Grey Lynn.
This is an opportunity to listen again (or for the first time!) to the music, New Zealand and international, that NZ lesbians listened to in the 1970s, 1980s. Feel free to bring your own LPs to share.
A koha to support the work of the museum and to help with the costs of the Lezzie Tunes nights
would be appreciated.
Refreshments provided.
More Lezzie Tunes nights in 2008: 28 November.
Look out for our clowning workshop next month
Future shows include lesbian humour, sport, motherhood, sexuality, early clubs, literature, art, poetry, early hero, early lesbian balls, spirituality, early research (the students who dared) and more.
Our shows may answer questions such as why are their secret codes? What is the significance of an apple? Did Sappho (500BC) start the reference to apple being out of the reach or overlooked by the shepherds? Where does the Labrys come from?
